What Happens Before the First Session

Walk through the four steps between the online form and your first session, so you know what the free in-home assessment covers and what to have ready.

The whole sequence before session one

Four things happen before your first paid session. You fill out the online assessment, Sound Fitness follows up to confirm the fit and set a time, your coach comes to your home for a free assessment, and only then does a first session get booked. Nothing is charged along the way, and no package is chosen until you have met your coach in person.

The online assessment is the only form. It asks about your goals, training history, schedule, service location, home setup, and any medical guidance a coach should respect. It is free, no card is required, and you are not picking a package or a frequency yet. If you would rather ask one question before filling anything out, you can send a quick inquiry instead and start the full assessment later.

What the free in-home assessment covers

The visit starts as a conversation. Your coach asks what you want, what you have tried before, what your week realistically supports, and what currently feels limited or uncomfortable. If a physical therapist or physician has given you guidance, say so then, because a coach works alongside those instructions rather than around them. This is where a starting point gets set, not where you prove anything.

Then you move a little. Your coach looks at how you handle a few basic patterns, how steady your balance feels, and what your current strength manages comfortably. After that you walk the space together and look at whatever equipment is already in the house. The point is to find your starting level, not to exhaust you and not to turn the visit into a sales test.

Getting the visit on the calendar

Sound Fitness reviews the request, confirms that in-home service and scheduling are practical for your address, and follows up to arrange the visit. Training runs across Seattle, Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, Sammamish, Mercer Island, Renton, Burien, Shoreline, and Everett, with no travel fee anywhere inside the service area. How soon a time opens depends on when your form arrives and which windows you can hold each week.

Give days and time windows both, including the ones that never work. Clear availability is what lets Sound Fitness offer you the earliest opening that actually fits. This is also the right moment for practical questions. Ask how pricing is structured, whether training, assisted stretch, or a blend seems more relevant, how equipment gets handled, and anything about parking or building access.

What to have ready and what to wear

There is not much to prepare. Clear the floor in the room where sessions would happen, enough that you could lie flat with your arms out and your coach could stand beside you comfortably. Leave any equipment you own where it normally lives, even if it is dusty or stored oddly, because the real setup tells a coach more than a staged one. If a session later calls for something you do not have, your coach brings it.

Wear whatever you would move in. Shoes on or off is your call, and your coach works to whatever ground rules you set for the house. Mention the details that are easy to forget: stairs, elevators, a narrow entry, where a car can park, whether sound carries to a neighbor below. Pets, kids at home, and the hours the house is quiet belong in the same conversation.

Cost and commitment at this stage

The in-home assessment is free. There is no charge for the visit, no card is required to book it, and no package is chosen until you have met your coach and talked through your goals. Pricing gets walked through during the visit, so you see what you would be paying for before you decide anything. Why the exact number waits until then is covered in its own article.

You are also allowed to say no. Deciding that in-home coaching is not the right fit is a normal outcome of an assessment, and nothing is owed if that is where you land. Meeting your coach first is the point. Nobody arrives for a paid session as a stranger, and you have seen how the person works in your own space before any money changes hands.

How the visit turns into your first session

You should finish the assessment with a clear recommendation rather than a vague follow-up. That means a direction, whether personal training, assisted stretch, or a blend of both, and a practical starting frequency and first training block. Your coach also knows by then which room you would train in, what equipment is there, and what needs to be brought in.

If you continue, the first session is built from what your coach saw, not from a template. The exercises, the pace, and the equipment are already matched to your body and your room, and you leave it with a simple next step for the days after. Sound Fitness keeps the assessment free and in person so the first plan is written for the home you actually live in.
